• How can I support theGreenspider?

  The best ways to support theGreenspider are firstly to use us as your default search engine, and secondly help us to spread the concept. You can do this through word of mouth, mentioning us in an email to friends or using any of the social networking icons available from our footer such as Facebook and twitter.

• How can I make theGreenspider my search engine?

  The easiest way to make theGreenspider your search engine is to set it as your homepage. You can find information on how to do this from your browser options or tools menu. You can also use the yellow star on our footer to bookmark our site. We are also developing plug-ins for the various browsers that will allow you to search directly from the web bar and these will be available shortly.

• In which countries is theGreenspider available?

  theGreenspider is currently only available in the US and UK. We will however be launching several new sites over the coming months, so please keep checking and if there’s any particular country you’d like to see added to the list please use the Feedback Tab to let us know. • How can I report a technical error?

  Please use our Feedback Tab and describe the error you experienced. Please tell us the page where you experienced the problem (if appropriate) or if you can, use that page to send the feedback from so as we can get even better information about the problem!

• Is theGreenspider a company or a non-profit?

  theGreenspider is a registered company dedicated to promoting the use of eco products and services. Whilst we are striving to make profits from this venture, we are run as an ethical organisation and our intention is to reinvest this money back into our business to improve and expand the services we offer to our community of both users and ethical organisations.

• What are the energy savings of having a darker background on my monitor?

  There is a significant difference in energy usage between darker coloured and white backgrounds on CRT and Plasma monitors but less so on LCD screens. Click here for more detail.

• Can I track how much energy I save by using theGreenspider?

  Whilst we are in the beta version of the site we will only be tracking energy saving as whole but when we go live in June we hope to give you access to your individual energy saving total from within your MySpider account.

• How are theGreenspider search results created?

  theGreenspider gets its main search results from our search partner, Google. The Eco search results are derived from our own spiders and algorithms that crawl the web looking for eco websites.

• How can I ensure my website appears in the Eco search results?

  As our spider programmes and algorithms evolve then more and more relevant websites will be included in these search results.
